Pinehusrt Days GEOCACHE EVENT

Join us for some outdoor fun!

WHAT IS A GEOCACHE or GEOCACHING?

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. The trading of small tokens and memorabilia is traditional in caches discovered worldwide.

SO, what is the PINEHURST DAYS GEOCACHE EVENT?

The Pinehurst Days Geocache Event is held in conjunction with the annual Pinehurst Days Celebration held during the first full weekend in August (Aug. 6, 7 & 8, 2021). The geocache is a 2 hour event in which the same GPS technique is used, but caches will be removed at the end.  All caches are hidden within the city limits of Pinehurst, Idaho and along with trading tokens, participants can win prizes! It's FREE to participate and anyone can play, so come join us for some outdoor FUN!

Coordinates

Click here to access your coordinates on event day!

They will be posted at 4pm, Friday, August 6, 2021. The webpage will not be published until this time.

PRACTICE COORDINATE

You will need Google Maps on your smartphone (or other GPS device) to participate. Type or copy & paste the following coordinates example into the search bar of Google Maps and press the search button. It is important to type the coordinate accurately with no spacing.

47.538911,-116.232756

This should take you to Tall Pine Drive-In. The coordinates will not take you to the exact spot of the cache, only the general location. You will still need to look around to find the cache. (NOTE: this is only an example to learn how to use Google Maps, No cache is currently hidden at this location.)
